Marmorino
Sydney
Authentic Roman marble plaster with centuries of heritage.

What Is Marmorino?
Marmorino is a traditional Italian plaster technique with origins stretching back to ancient Rome. Like Venetian plaster, it is made from slaked lime and marble aggregates, but Marmorino incorporates a coarser grain of marble — giving the finished surface a visible, crystalline texture that catches light in a uniquely characteristic way.
The name derives from the Italian word for marble (marmo), and the finish lives up to its name: applied and trowelled by hand, Marmorino creates a surface that closely resembles polished stone, with the natural colour variation and depth of genuine marble but at a fraction of the weight and cost.
Marmorino is particularly well-suited to Sydney's heritage homes and prestige interiors. In Federation, Georgian, and Victorian-era properties, it complements original plaster cornicing, architraves, and marble fireplaces with architectural authenticity. In contemporary settings, it provides a raw, textural counterpoint to smooth surfaces and clean lines.
The finish is applied in two or three coats, with the final layer either left with a soft, matte texture or burnished to bring out a subtle stone-like sheen. Colour is integral to the plaster mix, ensuring it remains consistent over time and does not fade, chip, or peel.
